Our farm shares many stories.
When you stroll the farm with your children you will be walking through the story of my childhood.
I have such a passion for growing food for families and helping children know where there food comes from, while caring for the earth, animals and themselves.
People rarely come to the farm to pick up their CSA share or some produce off our market table. Most of the time people slow down. They take a stroll around, even when they don’t have “time” and then they forget about the time.
Maybe you will just stroll and see food growing that you have not seen before, or be amazed by the beautiful heads of lettuces, unlike ones you see in the commercial stores. You will be invited to feed some animals, and maybe even get to pet some too.

As you meander the farm, you’ll see:
- Our orchard trees (planted when my children were little ones)
- The raised beds built by my grandfather in the 70’s
- Our extended garden area
- The fiberglass greenhouse where we start planting seeds for our crops as early as February
- Our John Lennon tree (our family’s live Christmas tree the year that John Lennon was shot)
- Our working barn that survived a barn fire in 2013
- The 4 acres of pasture that we bale every summer for grass hay sales
We hope that our story of a family who grew up with food as a focal point, which in turn brought us gratitude and connection does the same for your family.
Stay tuned and watch the farm as we manifest our dreams to continue to grow food for families as well as a space for families to just be present.
Jenni Minnis
Jenni was born in Enumclaw and spent her childhood years in the area. She loved to spend time at her grandparent’s farm house on 9 acres just outside of town. Her grandmother was a professional artist and her grandfather, a mason by trade, maintained a huge garden in eighteen raised beds that he built himself and are our main growing space for the early season each year.
Jenni spent much of her adult life raising 3 children and working in the aerospace industry. Even while she lived in the city for 15 years, she always remembered the joy of living in the rural town of Enumclaw.
In 2010, Jenni came back to Enumclaw to live on the farm. Over a period of three years, Jenni developed the property into The Mason Jar Farm. She continues to grow the farm as a CSA, farmstay and even a preschool.
Jenni has always loved working with and teaching children. The Mason Jar Farm hosts events and tours that focus on teaching children about their food, where it comes from and caring for our land.
We are blessed to be hosting an all outdoor preschool through Greenplay Northwest here at the farm. Our preschool runs from September to May for 10 wonderful children to come learn here 2 days a week. Sign ups for the preschool usually begin in February for fall classes. Learn more at Greenplay Northwest.

Steve Neason
You will see Farmer Steve (the guy that many people have asked who the Amish man is) working at the farm. Steve is always here at The Mason Jar Farm on Fridays when you pick up your fresh vegetables.
Steve is also an excellent cook and loves to give his recipes out and talk about food when you visit the farm. He is the true farmer of the farm and as he has retired from management in the past few years, he still manages the soil and planting here at the farm.
Steve operates Cedar Spring Farm and Apiaries which specializes in bulk “row crops” like potatoes, carrots, peas, beans and garlic. The Mason Jar Farm is more suited to salad green vegetables, braising greens, broccoli, cabbage and other “greens” crops. Cedar Spring Farm and The Mason Jar Farm are collaborating entities, not legal partners. However everything that Cedar Spring produces is marketed through The Mason Jar Farm.
Steve and his wife, Rebecca, moved to the Enumclaw Plateau in 1983 after a 33 year career at Boeing as an Information Technology professional. Steve has traveled many places during his career, such as Western Europe and Eastern Asia but now prefers to stay close to the farm.
His wife was a novelist and had five publish novels. She passed away in August of 2010. The production of organic food has always been his passion and he has studied and practiced the art since he was a kid. Steve’s parents retired to Lewis County where Steve’s 80+ year old father raises pastured beef and an acre of vegetables and fruit.
