Susan spent an afternoon at the Open Farm Friday and it was really nice to get to know her while she witnessed the people coming and going on that day.
TAKE A TRIP TO LEARN ABOUT LOCAL FARMS ON THE PLATEAU
by Susan Etchey
Nothing tastes better than wholesome fresh food coming directly from a local farm to your table. That is what your sustainable farmers on the Plateau, like The Mason Jar Farm on 278th Way, have to offer. Locally grown, organic, fresh harvested produce, veggies and eggs that taste gourmet – food only the very best restaurants serve.
Jenni Sample Minnis, a local plateau girl – who is the founder of The Mason Jar Farm, is an amazing woman who is reinventing her life on her family’s property. She gave up her corporate style city job to dig in the dirt. Gone are her slacks and heels for what she loves most. She feels more at home in her Carhartts and muckboots after returning to her roots in Enumclaw from the city life she lived for 15 years north of Seattle. She now grows greens, vegetables, and cares for 120+ chickens as well as wanting to raise grass-fed beef and expand the farm to be an educational resource for children. Fresh eggs are also one of her farm specialties. You drive through, pick up the eggs you want and put your money in a mason jar in the fridge.
